It’s Been Way Too Long
Life has been moving pretty fast. For Kat and I, our focus has been on our little family.
From the creative front, while I have been able to get out locally to shoot, photography has taken a backseat. I hadn’t realized it but it has been two years since i’ve gone shooting with my buddies Eric and Noel (Death Valley 2022). This past Saturday, I had an opportunity to spend the afternoon with them at Joshua Tree National Park. We piled into my truck and we headed out.
It was great catching up with them. They’ve both have been busy with work, life and travel. Most of the trip was just about sharing stories of what we’ve been up to and future plans. During those updates, there’d be some creative chat here and there but it mostly not about photography; a common trend the last few years for us.
The day went by fast and I had more laughs than I did images taken. Honestly, the laughs were way more important to me. We all agreed that two years was way too long since we’ve seen and/or photographed together so we started throwing out dates for our next local daytrip. Noel mentioned exploring deeper into different areas of San Diego. Eric was thinking something coastal here in San Diego, Orange County or Los Angeles. It’ll be fun regardless where we end up.
Times with good friends is important and that day in Joshua Tree was a reminder to make time with those important people in your life. It was great seeing the guys. Looking forward to seeing them in a few weeks! Below are some rough sketches of some B-side images. I have 2 or 3 other frames that may make it to a gallery release at some point. More to come on those at a later date. Thanks for visiting! - M
